It will be an all-Bruneian affair in the semi-finals of men's category of the Brunei Open Pairs 2011 at the Lawn Bowls Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
Despite teams from Labuan proving to be strong challengers in the group stages, it was the local teams that made their mark when it mattered most during the knockout stages yesterday.
Brunei D defeated compatriots Ilmu Alim 3 11-5 in the Round of 12 before edging Labuan A 13-10 to move into the final four setting up a date against another Brunei team Red Flowers.
The latter progressed into the semi-finals with victories over Seri Brunei (11-9) and Labuan E (12-8) respectively.
Brunei A received a bye in the Top 12 and only needed to beat Ilmu Alim 2 which they did, winning 12-7 to progress into the final four.
They next face Sinar Suria 2, who battled Ilmu Alim 1 to a 15-11 victory in the Round of 12 before disposing of Labuan D 11-7 to enter the semi-finals.
