THE national lawn bowlers making their presence felt at the Lawn Bowls Championships Mixed Fours International held at the Federal Territory of Labuan.

Impressing their rivals and fans, Brunei teams were very much in control after the second day of the tournament yesterday.
The tournament saw four teams from Brunei successfully qualifying for the second round after finishing their initial stage in second place in their respective groups.

According to the press released by Abdul Rahim Mohd Taib, the national lawn bowlers had shown a positive improvement in the four-day tournament.

"The teams have good chances of winning the tournament. But they will face a tough task going up against the best players from Labuan," he said.

"However, the combination of the senior and young players in the team is paying off as all the four teams are through to the next round.

"We did not expect the new players to perform so well in the game as they were coming into the tournament (only) to gain experience and to prepare for the National Sports Festival (PSK) in September," said Abdul Rahim.

"Current performance showed by the junior players in the tournament was very impressive. With the help and guidance of experienced players in the team Brunei will have good chances in achieving good results in the competition," he added.
