Peter Belliss - National Open Championships
Peter Belliss

St Johns Park is proud to announce that Peter Belliss has joined the ranks as the new Bowls Manager after the sudden departure of another former kiwi International Paul Girdler.
Peter brings a wealth of experience to club having worked in bowls administration and coaching roles for the past 20 odd years, including 10 years at the Cabramatta Bowling club, 4 years in Noosa and 3 years working for Bowls New Zealand.
On the bowling green Peter represented New Zealand with distinction from 1982-2002 winning a number of International medals and competing in 4 Commonwealth Games. Peter was also the coach of the New Zealand team at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games showing the true dedication he has for the sport of bowls.
Peter also competed at 5 World Championships medalling in 6 out of a possible 10 events, including 3 gold medals in Singles, Pairs and Triples. Peter regards the Singles gold medal as his career highlight after defeating Willy Wood of Scotland on his home soil.
“I feel very privileged to be involved with a club of St Johns Park’s standard and already feel so welcomed,” Bellis said.
Selectors will meet this week to pick the grade one pennant team that is aiming for back to back state titles and there is no doubt Peter’s experience will help guide our men again this year.
